Courage

Being human is the sum of our experiences on earth.

The human experience is a journey of self-discovery and growth; an exploration of our innermost thoughts and feelings, and yet it is also the courage to face our fears and doubts; communicating and empathising with others; and a recognition of our shared humanity.

To have the best possible human experience while you’re on earth, you need the courage to feel many of the things that make up the human experience. A truth I’ve discovered is that courage is a quiet friend. If you invest in her, she will keep coming back to let you know she’s there. And she’ll back you when you try something new.

And every time you try new things, your identity morphs just a tiny bit. Take tiny bets on life, and you’ll start to recognise that fear and excitement have the same physiological reaction. You’ll feel it in your body. Newness will become less scary.

Your biggest risk is looking back on your life and not having given it everything you’ve got to make a future you wanted to exist.

Don’t stop being human.
